The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Director, Finance and Administration to lead the company’s finance, accounting, and office administration functions. Reporting to the President, this role will own the monthly close and financial reporting process, cash flow and working capital management, customer credit and accounts receivable oversight, budgeting and forecasting leadership, and day-to-day oversight of the office administration function. This is a leadership role in a small to mid-sized manufacturing business, but it is also a hands-on role. The successful candidate will be expected to both lead and execute — bringing strong technical accounting capability, practical business judgment, and the ability to support continuous improvement in structure, reporting, process discipline, and overall departmental effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Own the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate monthly financial statements Prepare monthly financial statements and present results, analysis, and key issues to management Own short-term and medium-term cash flow forecasting, working capital oversight, and payment prioritization Lead A/R management and customer credit decisions, including credit limits, payment terms, order holds, and release decisions Lead the annual budget process and periodic reforecasting in partnership with management Support pricing, margin, profitability, and KPI reporting Oversee inventory-related accounting, costing, and manufacturing-related financial reporting Supervise the Office Manager and oversee the customer service / order processing function from an administrative and people-management perspective Serve as the primary internal contact for external accountants, banking partners, benefits providers, and other key finance/admin-related service providers Support finance process development and ERP/accounting system initiatives
What We’re Looking For
CPA designation required 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally in a small to mid-sized manufacturing business Strong ERP/accounting systems experience Hands-on experience with monthly close, financial statement preparation, balance sheet review, cash flow oversight, A/R management, customer credit, and working capital Experience with manufacturing costing and inventory accounting Experience leading budgeting and forecasting processes Experience supervising transactional finance and administrative staff Strong communication, judgment, and business acumen Comfortable operating in a lean, hands-on environment
Reporting Structure
Reports to: President Direct reports: Office Manager; Customer Service / Order Processing role Works closely with: VP, Manufacturing and Distribution on freight and logistics matters
Work Arrangement
This role is based primarily on-site in Port Perry, Ontario. Given the hands-on nature of the role and the need for regular interaction with the office and operating team, regular on-site presence is expected.
