Your Opportunity at SECURE The Class 1 Self-Loader Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation, loading, and unloading of scrap metal and recyclable materials using a self-loader truck. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent equipment operating skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service. This position is ideal for an experienced Class 1 driver who is equally comfortable behind the wheel and operating the self-loader, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and exceptional service. This position is located in Kimberley, British Columbia. The Team The SECURE Metals & Mining team is a group of experienced professionals dedicated to providing innovative and reliable scrap metal recycling services. Work Environment This is a Monday to Friday full time position working 7:30am to 4:30pm with overtime as required. A Day in The Life Safely operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle to transport scrap metal and recyclable materials to and from customer locations and company facilities. Operate the mounted self-loader to self-load and unload materials efficiently and safely. Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, and self-loader, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns. Secure loads in accordance with company procedures and applicable transportation regulations. Follow all federal, provincial, and municipal transportation laws, including hours of service and cargo securement requirements. Complete daily electronic logs, inspection reports, scale tickets, and shipping documentation accurately. Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and site personnel regarding schedules, delays, and operational issues. Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic preventative maintenance. Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is operated responsibly. Assist with yard operations and other duties as required. Skills, Experience & Qualifications Valid Class 1 Driver's License with a clean commercial driver's abstract. Previous experience operating a self-loader truck. Experience handling scrap metal, construction materials, or other bulk materials is considered an asset. Knowledge of transportation regulations, cargo securement, and safe driving practices. Ability to operate the equipment safely in various weather and site conditions. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent customer service and professionalism. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
