About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Security Supervisor, the Security Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the contract Security team. The Security Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the security measures within the organization. Their duties include assessing security needs, identifying and delivering on security resources, and evaluating programs to ensure workers are equipped with the necessary skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide administrative support to the Health and Safety Department through data management, filing, and scheduling. Specific duties include:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of contract security personnel, ensuring they adhere to company policies and procedures.

  • Train security staff on proper security procedures, emergency protocols, and the use of security equipment.

  • Enforce company security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance from all employees and visitors.

  • Identify and assess threats and risks to the Island Gold District.

  • Assist in development, implementation and maintenance of Security procedures.

  • Monitor Refinery activities to account for any gold bearing material, its movement, and prevent loss.

  • Prioritize and schedule security guard tasks.

  • Monitor CCTV security cameras and other surveillance systems.

  • Monitor Access Control systems.

  • Investigate and report security related incidents.

  • Conduct K9 Drug Detection exercises as assigned.

  • Oversee contract Security staff to ensure compliance with ministry regulations and mine site procedures.

  • Conduct regular security audits and inspections to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field such as Police Foundations is considered an asset.
    • First aid and CPR certification
    • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution and de-escalation skills.
    • A background in precious metals security, metallurgy and/or process plant operations.
    • A positive track record of professional leadership and supervisory experience.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the security and mining industries.
    • Strong understanding of security principles, procedures, and technologies.
    • A detailed understanding of Security Management Systems and loss prevention controls.
    • Experience investigating incidents and assessing and controlling risks and threats.
    • Emergency response experience and a thorough understanding of emergency preparedness.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and excellent written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation abilities.
    • Experience handling confidential situations in a credible manner.
    • Knowledge of human rights law to ensure integrity in all security activities.

this role will follow a seven days on, seven days off schedule and be based at the Alamos Gold, Island Gold Complex. Travel to site is paid by the company.
