Delegated Team Leader (Post Majority)- 1791

Regular Full Time Position - Global

Base Office: Langley

Post Majority Youth Services

Salary - $90,799.44 to $103,686.36 per annum (35 hrs per week)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Youth and Guardianship Director of Operations, the Post Majority Team Leader will provide direction, leadership, clinical guidance, and support to staff within their team; maintain and improve existing service delivery; manage the team’s workload distribution; and ensure their staff receive adequate support, as well as any identified training and development to meet their learning and development needs.

The Post Majority Team Leader is responsible to work in collaboration with other teams and baskets within FVACSS and will utilize their child welfare delegation and experience to guide staff in their assessment and analysis of Youth involved with FVACFSS; the level of intervention or support that is required for each youth as a result of these assessments; and to provide clinical supervision, coaching and mentoring to staff in order to develop their critical thought processes, assessments and analyses within post majority situations.

The services provided include supporting young adults in their transition to adulthood by providing continuity of service, a connection to a broad range of adult government, community and cultural supports and services, and access to financial supports post-19 years of age.

The Post Majority Team Leader will ensure that services are delivered accurately and consistent within the CFCSA; An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children Youth and Families; Policies and Practice Standards; and the FVACFSS Policies and Procedures Manuals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Social Work Degree or in Child and Youth Care or equivalent; or
  • Master of Arts in Educational Counselling/Clinical Psychology having completed a Practicum in Family and Child Welfare, or Master’s in Social Work.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in child protection work including Intake/FDR, Family Services, Guardianship and Resources.
  • Experience supervising staff in a directly related program area. Preference may be given to those who have 1 year or more supervisory experience in a directly related program area.
  • Must be C4 delegated or eligible for C4 delegation in the Province of BC.
  • Ability to practice the standards set out in the Temporary Housing and Temporary Supports for Agreements with Young Adults' policy); B.C. Child, Family and Community Services Act; An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children, Youth and Families; the Aboriginal Operational and Practice Standards and Indicators (AOPSI) Manual; and the Aboriginal Policy and Practice Framework.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous cultures; understanding of how culture impacts in the development of individuals and communities; knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonial policies and practices on Indigenous Peoples and communities; and an understanding of intergenerational trauma.
  • Understanding of cross-cultural issues as they affect children in care, foster parents, biological parents, and communities of origins.
  • Strong understanding of agency policies and procedure manuals.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of all applicable acts, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to child welfare service delivery.

  • Ability to diffuse emotionally charged/hostile interactions on the phone or in person.

  • Strong analytical skills: ability to identify, verbally and in writing, the current status of an issue, provide an analysis of the clinical practice and recommend an appropriate course of action.

  • Strong problem solving and dispute resolution skills.

  • Excellent oral presentation and report writing skills, including clarity; conciseness; completeness; and correct use of grammar and vocabulary.

  • Ability to form trusting, respectful and effective relationships with children, Indigenous communities, caregivers, parents, and other FVACFSS employees.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and work under pressure.

  • Maintain an attitude of caring, respect and optimism for their clients.

  • Maintain a clear differentiation between the professional and personal self.

  • Computer skills for Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License; reliable transportation with adequate vehicle insurance.

  • Criminal records check required.

  • Preference may be given to Indigenous candidates as per Section 41 of the Human Rights Code.
