About the role

Job purpose

A General Labourer Level 2 performs various tasks related to materials handling, electronics dismantling, re-packing as well as plant and equipment clean-up for lines that are more demanding (physical or mental efforts).

Duties and responsibilities

  • Unload, tag, sort both palletized and bulk material shipments of electronic waste (eg. TVs, monitors, computers etc), disassemble/dismantle waste electronic products quickly, accurately, safely and securely
  • Use air guns and hand tools to dismantle electronic equipment
  • Identify components from disassembly and sort into correct material bins
  • Ensure work area remains clean and free of trash/debris throughout the work shift, including removal of plastic wrap/packaging material in the work centers
  • Communicate all issues to the production supervisor and/or operations manager that could result in process delays or safety issues
  • Work quickly and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of performance with quality production, security, and health & safety
  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly production and efficiency goals are accomplished
  • Maintain strict adherence to eCycle policies, SOP’s, and safety procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven qualities to jobs requiring additional physical and mental efforts
  • Demonstrated aptitude for handling and knowledge of electronics
  • Manual labour as required- Must be able to lift 50 lbs (23 kg) without assistance and use a pallet jack
  • Manufacturing or warehouse experience is preferred but not required
  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • Demonstrate basic problem solving, effective communication skills, attention to detail, manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination
  • Must be able to read and carry out instructions for S.O.P.s, and possess basic math skills
  • Experience with manual and basic power tools, especially air guns
  • Ability to wear PPE and adhere to all Health and Safety requirements
  • Demonstrated high level of personal accountability, reliability, sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • WHMIS, Health and Safety, First Aid training is an asset

  • Visual requirement is for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently required to stand and walk for the majority of shift time
