Part-time Professor – Interior Design

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the Honours Bachelor of Interior Design Degree. Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering courses in the Honours Bachelor of Interior Design Degree
- Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluating student progress / achievement
- Participating in program and college activities as required
- Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Interior Design
- Masters degree in Interior Design or related Field
- ARIDO Registered Interior Design status and NCIDQ Certification
- Minimum of 5 years recent and relevant professional practice experience
- An equivalent combination of education and / or professional practice may be considered in the total experience required
- Ability to teach upper and lower level interior design studio courses including design theory, contract documentation, professional practice, manual drafting, sketching, and rendering skills
- Proficiency in professional practice, interior building systems, building codes, interior products specification writing, and construction documents’ production
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, remote learning, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
