Position Status: Temporary Full-time Contract (4 months)
Intern positions are open to candidates who have recently graduated (recent graduates are considered individuals who have graduated from an accredited university or college within the last 36 months).
Available: January 2026
Description of the Position:
SickKids Foundation is excited to present a 4-month Philanthropy Internship Program, specifically for up-and-coming fundraisers. Our goal is to support and build the skills of emerging professionals by gaining valuable hands-on work experience and increasing your network.
The SickKids Foundation Philanthropy team is committed to creating exceptional relationships with our donors to meet the ambitious goals of the organization. Raising approximately $80 million in cash annually, the team identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors who have the capacity to give over $100,000. Through this internship you will work closely with members of the Philanthropy team having exposure to the entire major gifts cycle and contribute to the development of strategies for a variety of high-priority projects within the Foundation and at the Hospital for SickKids.
You will:

Gain experience in fundraising and donor impact at SickKids Foundation
-
Have the opportunity to work closely with Philanthropy team members to practice skills and tasks such as;
-
Developing donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies;
-
Maintain electronic records of donor information;
-
Assist in strategy development and implementation of one or more donor segment strategies (i.e.SickKids WomenPowered, Black Experience@SickKids, Jewish Communities, Tech4SickKids)
-
Prospect research and identification
-
Learn about fundraising for various hospital-identified priorities and work with colleagues as appropriate to communicate impact, coordinate meetings and tours, etc;
-
Actively participate in weekly team meetings as well as regular Foundation-wide meetings and education sessions
-
Work collaboratively with colleagues in direct and digital marketing, corporate and community partnerships, special events, and gift and estate planning; gift administration, brand marketing and communication, research and analytics, proposal development, recognition and stewardship;

Develop fundraising skills through regular 1:1 mentorship from your leader;
-
Additional office duties and project assistance as required
Qualifications:
While we know that for any job posting, no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
- Either working towards or having obtained a university degree or college diploma with a program focus on Fundraising, Not-For-Profit Management, Marketing, or other transferable disciplines;
- Strong people skills, a relationship builder with a professional demeanor;
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to understand the importance of fundraising and stewardship;
- Creative, resourceful, organized, detail-oriented, with strong follow-through;
- Works well independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to pitch in and support a variety of projects as needed;
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with teams and others in the organization;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize, and multitask;
- Professionalism with a strong sense of ethics;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Raisers Edge or Blackbaud CRM an asset
