Administrative Assistant

The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,300+ students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum.

Position Overview:

The ADEA is seeking an Administrative Assistant (temporary full-time position) to be based at its Central Office. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the position will:

  • Provides direct support to Human Resources (HR), and other areas as the front desk, student services, and resource centre, when needed
  • Provide direction related to information flow and service delivery efficiently and effectively
  • Prepare accurate letters, memos, and correspondence within deadlines
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, and maintain an electronic and manual filing system according to protocol
  • Process other office administrative clerical procedures, such as calendar management, scheduling appointments and interviews, drafting correspondences/messages, and onboarding/offboarding HR processes.

Qualifications include:

  • Must be between the ages of 18 – 30 years old. (This position is funded by a grant that requires the candidate be within the age range outlined).

  • A business/office administrative certification or similar qualifications.

  • Knowledge of Denesuline language and culture would be a benefit.

  • Excellent time management skills: to be able to prioritize activities, especially when there is a high volume of tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to take initiative.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
