About the role

Community Connections Practitioner – Temporary

Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) is seeking a community connections practitioner to join our Immigrant Services department! In this role, you will build bridges between eligible clients, indigenous people, established immigrants, and long-time Canadians to promote intercultural exchange, and facilitate meaningful relationships. Community connection practitioners help promote a welcoming and inclusive community by educating the community on their role in the integration through public presentations and encouraging active engagement.

Community Connection Practitioners:

  • recruit program volunteers,

  • maintain information and orientation packages for program participants,

  • maintain monthly contact with program participants,

  • develop and implement strategies and outreach activities and establish appropriate community partnerships to introduce programs,

  • research and provide information on community programs, events and celebrations for clients and volunteers to attend,

  • maintain accurate records, reports, statistical data, and program supports, and

  • maintain a high level of client confidentiality.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • an undergraduate degree and/or diploma in human services, social work, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or education,

  • proven high levels of proficiency in computer skills, and

  • extensive knowledge of Lethbridge community resource networks.

All new employees must provide a police information check and vulnerable sector check dated not less than 90 days prior to the date of hire.

Number of positions available: 1

Hours: Temporary for 1 year or upon the return of the incumbent, Monday – Friday 35 hours/ week.
