Role Overview
We are building the next generation of IoT-enabled Smart Stores - Smart Stores that blend electro-mechanical engineering, computer vision, and cloud software.
As our Technical Program Manager , you will be the primary technical and operational liaison between our company and our Contract Manufacturer to ensure consistent quality and on-time delivery of finished units.
You will manage the entire production lifecycle: from receiving components and managing inventory, to supporting our Contract Manufacturer with production challenges and overall project management. This role requires technical fluency (electro-mechanical, IoT), exceptional organization, the ability to manage partners, people and process.
Local travel will be required between office, contract manufacturer and warehouse locations (all within GTA, up to 1 hour away from downtown office). Valid G drivers license required, personal vehicle preferred, mileage reimbursed.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Component Management
-Receiving & Quality Assurance: Build and run processes for receiving, inspecting, and validating incoming components to ensure they meet hardware/software specifications. -Custom Component Configuration: Manage workflows, space, technicians, and documentation for flashing/configuring components, assembling proprietary components, and pre-kitting. -Spare & Safety Stock: Implement systems to maintain ideal stock levels and ensure full traceability across all inventory locations (office, warehouse, CM etc).
Contract Manufacturer (CM) Management & Continuous Improvement
-Inventory Logistics: Coordinate the timely delivery of custom components to the CM. -Production Oversight and Final Acceptance: Act as the primary technical and operational liaison with the CM. Perform training, monitoring assembly, integration, testing, and overall build quality. Sign off on completed production prior to shipping. -Issue Resolution: Rapidly diagnose and resolve production, configuration and quality issues, onsite or remote. -Performance Management: Document and track CM performance KPIs (eg throughput, first-pass yield, defect rate, cost) -SOP Ownership: Maintain and update all build instructions, SOPs, troubleshooting guides and quality expectations. -Change Management: Serve as custodian for all build documentation, revision history, and manufacturing records. Lead NPI, ECO, and EOL transitions with engineering and the CM.
Project Management, Tracking & Reporting
-Production Scheduling: Build and update project plans/Gantt charts, identify critical dependencies, and ensure production rate meets customer delivery timelines. -Cross-Functional Communication: Provide frequent updates to Sales, Customer Success, Supply Chain and Engineering. -Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate production, QA, and shipping documentation, including serial numbers and lot tracking. -Inventory Reconciliation: Lead monthly physical inventory audits across all sites (office, warehouse, CM).
Qualifications
Must Have
- Technical degree (Engineering or related) or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years in technical program management, manufacturing, or operations for hardware / IoT products
- Strong technical fluency across electro-mechanical systems, firmware flashing, sensors, cameras, networking, and embedded devices
- Hands-on experience assembling, configuring, testing, and shipping complex hardware
- Experience managing Contract Manufacturers as the primary technical and operational point of contact
- Strong program management skills: production scheduling, dependency tracking, and delivery accountability
- Comfortable building and owning SOPs, QA processes, and revision-controlled manufacturing documentation
- Proficient with modern software, automation, and AI-powered tools to run technical operations efficiently
- Clear, confident communicator who takes ownership and solves problems end-to-end
Nice to Have
- Experience with NPI, ECO, or EOL transitions
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory traceability
- Background in Lean / Six Sigma or continuous improvement
- Experience with computer vision hardware, refrigeration, or logistics-heavy products
