Position Overview: The Systems and Virtualization Engineer is responsible for managing and executing system migrations, deployments, and maintenance across virtualized environments. This role involves working with both Linux and Windows servers (primarily Red Hat for Linux) and ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of systems during and after migration. The engineer will use in-house tools and industry best practices to bring systems online in a new hypervisor environment while validating functionality and uptime of critical service Key Responsibilities:
- Perform server migrations using in-house developed tools and processes.
- Deploy and configure virtual machines across multiple hypervisors and operating systems (Linux, Windows).
- Validate and test systems post-migration to ensure all services and dependencies are operational.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to server configuration, connectivity, and performance during migration.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and application teams to ensure seamless transitions.
- Maintain documentation of migration processes, configurations, and technical procedures.
- Monitor system health and performance, identifying opportunities for optimization.
- Ensure adherence to security and compliance standards during migration and system deployment.
- Participate in planning and scheduling system migrations and upgrades.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or virtualization management.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux (Red Hat preferred) and Windows Server operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g.: VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, or similar).
- Experience with system migrations, OS upgrades, and service validation.
- Familiarity with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) for automation and process efficiency.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, and network layers.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
