This is an onsite position working out of our Edmonton office Monday through Friday.
The Opportunity The Junior Product Owner, Payments, supports the development and delivery of our public-sector payments platform. This role emphasizes foundational business analysis, payments knowledge, and collaborative delivery in an Agile environment.
What You Will Do
- Maintain the product backlog and write clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Support stakeholder discovery and capture requirements.
- Collaborate with Engineering to refine scope and validate delivery.
- Assist with release planning and go-live readiness.
- Track basic KPIs (authorization rate, conversion, refund SLAs).
- Support UAT, defect triage, and root-cause analysis.
Requirements What you Will Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Approximately 2 years in Product, Business Analysis, or Payments/FinTech roles (internships/coursework considered).
- Experience contributing to delivery of payments features.
- Basic understanding of card-not-present flows, e-Check/ACH, hosted checkout vs. gateway forms.
- Awareness of operational concepts: tokenization, AVS/CVV, refunds/voids, reconciliation.
- Familiarity with compliance and security: PCI DSS Level 1, SOC 2, NACHA rules.
- Accessibility awareness: WCAG 2.1 AA baseline and progress toward WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and basic SQL/data validation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Certifications
- CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) or equivalent entry-level certification.
- Payments coursework/certifications (e.g., ePayResources, NACHA).
- Accessibility training aligned to WCAG AA.
