Full-Time

Available Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The incumbent will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, pre-inspection maintenance, diagnostic assessments, and repairs on the company’s fleet of trailers, in alignment with their training and apprenticeship level. All tasks will be conducted in accordance with company policies and industry standards to ensure optimal fleet performance and safety. This position is primarily based outside in the yard.
How You'll Help
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of trailers according to assigned work orders.
- Licensed Trailer Technician duties include, but are not limited to: brakes, suspension systems, Surelok systems, tires (including pressure checks), trailer axles, lighting systems, rear walls and doors, frame and support, chassis, wiring, hydraulics, and heating & refrigeration systems.
- Perform maintenance and repair on trailer bodies and various accessories such as hub caps, decals, reflective tape, painting, and other miscellaneous components.
- Independently complete diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and ongoing trailer maintenance in the yard, without support from other personnel.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all findings and work performed.
- Regularly update the Service Supervisor or Service Manager regarding changes to completion times, detailed findings, and any potential future service requirements.
- Incumbent will be solely responsible for work performed in the yard and is expected to work independently.
- Carry out other duties as assigned to support overall fleet operations.
Your Skills & Experience
- Completion of post-secondary training in trailer repair or successful attainment of a trailer technician certificate course is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants holding Red Seal journeyperson certification.
- Additional specialized training in tire repairs and/or refrigeration systems will be considered an asset.
- Possession of Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) credentials is considered an asset.
- A valid Class 1 driver’s license will also be recognized as advantageous for this role.
- Previous experience working within an industrial environment, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in the transportation industry.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting safety inspections, supported by the relevant qualifications, is required for this role.
- Physically fit and able to lift, move, reach, bend, walk, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch for extended period of time
- Ability to work in tight spaces
- Strong knowledge of transportation industry’s rules and regulations regarding transport trailers and components
- Knowledge of and ability to use safe work practices, including safe lifting and bending, working in tight spaces, etc.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Good communication skills – verbal and written
