As Junior Sous Chef at Andaz, you play a key role in shaping the hotel’s culinary identity—bringing creativity, precision, and local flavor to every plate. Working closely with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef, you are part of a dynamic kitchen team, ensuring each dish reflects our commitment to craft, authenticity, and exceptional guest experiences. Your passion for food, people, and innovation helps create an inspiring environment where both colleagues and guests feel the Andaz difference.
What is expected of me in this role?
- Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
- Ensures recipes are accurately followed and maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Coordinates with culinary team, F&B Management and Events team to ensure a seamless guest experience, handle guest issues and to take corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensures that colleagues comply with food safety standards and maintain a high level of safety regulations in the kitchens.
Skills and Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be a passionate, highly skilled, positive, creative, empathetic and with a high attention to detail, excellence and continuous improvements.
- Proven culinary skills and knowledge required with at least 2 years of previous Chef De Partie experience.
- Culinary education, red seal will be an asset.
- Highly self-motivated with a desire to learn, grow and continually improve
- Requires full flexibility, ability to work weekends, evenings, nights and holidays and a on varied schedule, ability to work long shifts and supervisor all outlets.
- Must have smart serve and food handler certification.
- While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly required to sit; stand; bend; walk; reach, pull, use hands or fingers; or feel objects, tools or controls; may need to lift boxes (up to 30 lbs).
- Must be proficient in general computer knowledge, including a working knowledge of point-of-sale systems.
