Overview:

The primary function of the Driver is to drive patients to appointments as set up by the administrative assistant and approved by the clinical team. The Driver is also responsible for all office errands including, pick-ups and deliveries and banking. The Driver shall take direction from the Administrative Assistant, and, when not driving or needed by the front desk staff, will report to the Administration Supervisor to be assigned other work. The driver shall be a responsible adult, able to work with minimum of supervision, set priorities and work effectively with varying office and patient demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain company vehicles regularly, keeping them in good repair, including keeping tanks full, regular fluid checks and maintenance.

  • Conduct monthly Vehicle Checks, including First Aid Kit review, replenishing when necessary.

  • Drive patients to various appointments including Doctor, Dentist, Chiropractor, etc., to and from the ferry and airports.

  • Carry out various office errands as set out by the Administrative Assistant, including pick-ups, deliveries and daily mail drop offs.

  • Daily banking, adhering to recommended safety guidelines set out in Policy & Procedures: Emergency Plans, Workplace Threats and Violence – Bank Deposits.

  • Provide front desk coverage as needed for holidays and sick leave.

  • General filing as needed.

  • Drive patients to and from noon AA Meetings when needed.

  • Perform other related duties as requested by management team.

  • General Support Staff functions, such as:

    • Be available to assist any patient experiencing difficulties and needing to talk to a staff member.
    • Immediately notify counselling staff member on call in the event of any emergency or unusual circumstance.
    • Document any significant occurrences regarding patients during the shift.
    • Administer required first aid in case of emergency while waiting for medical emergency professionals to arrive.
    • Housekeeping and clerical tasks as instructed.
    • Participate in in-service workshops as assigned.
    • Admissions and luggage searches

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Vehicle Maintenance experience.
  • Office training an asset.
  • High degree of initiative and willingness to assist in any area required.
  • Must work with a minimum of supervision, set priorities, and work effectively with a variety of demands.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Ability to deal effectively and compassionately with people in many capacities.
  • Must have a general working knowledge of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12 Step Programs.
  • Reported misuse or abuse of mood-altering chemicals for two years prior to application would disqualify an applicant for a period of one year from the date of application.
  • Must possess superior reading, writing and communication skills; both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to understand and follow directions.
  • Must have good hearing and eyesight.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License, and comply with all laws pertaining to the safe operation of a vehicle.
  • Must have current First Aid CPR Level C.
