About the Role
Molly Tea is a beloved Shenzhen-founded international tea brand focused on high-quality Jasmine tea beverages. We’re excited to be opening our first BC location at Union Square in Richmond and we're looking for a reliable and experienced Store Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and help build our team from the ground up. If you're passionate about beverages, customer service, and team leadership and you’ve got experience opening and running a similar cafe or milk tea shop, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities:
Store Setup & Opening
- Work closely with the owner and Molly Tea team during the pre-opening phase.
- Assist with initial store setup, equipment installation, layout, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with standards.
- Manage opening week preparations including launch planning and staff readiness.
Team Building & Management
- Recruit, interview, and onboard part-time team members (baristas/cashiers).
- Create and deliver training programs for new hires including drink preparation, customer service, POS usage, and cleanliness standards.
- Foster a positive team environment with ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Scheduling & Shift Management
- Create and maintain weekly staff schedules based on operational needs and availability.
- Ensure all shifts are covered and manage any last-minute adjustments or absenteeism.
- Monitor and manage labor costs in line with sales forecasts.
Inventory & Supplies Management
- Oversee daily stock levels and manage ordering of ingredients, consumables, and packaging.
- Track inventory usage and minimize waste.
- Coordinate with the warehouse to pick up supplies as needed — a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.
Store Operations & Quality Control
- Supervise day-to-day operations including opening/closing procedures.
- Ensure high levels of cleanliness, organization, and health/safety compliance at all times.
- Maintain quality and consistency in beverage preparation and customer experience.
- Troubleshoot equipment or operational issues as they arise.
Customer Service & Community Engagement
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service.
- Handle escalated customer concerns and feedback professionally and effectively.
- Help build relationships with the local community to promote the store.
Reporting & Owner Liaison
- Create and present regular reports on sales performance, staff matters, and operational issues.
- Provide insights and suggestions for improvements in processes, promotions, and customer experience.
- Track and report key metrics such as labor hours, sales targets, and inventory usage.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in a leadership or management role in a café, milk tea, or quick-service food & beverage environment.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must possess a valid BC driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle.
- Must be bilingual in English and Chinese
Qualifications:
- Experience with new store openings including recruitment, setup, and launch operations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and people management skills. Ability to train and motivate a diverse team of part-time staff.
- Knowledge of inventory control systems and POS operations.
- Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
