As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll act as the technical expert in reliability-related initiatives, applying engineering judgment and advanced analysis to ensure the safe, compliant, and continuous operation of critical systems. You will interface with project teams, operations, and regulatory groups to deliver high-quality technical solutions and drive improvement in equipment reliability and maintenance practices. You’ll have the opportunity to work with complex offshore electrical and instrumentation systems in a technically advanced environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7 years of relevant engineering experience in oil and gas, industrial, or offshore environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Applied Science, or related discipline
  • Proven technical competency in power generation and distribution systems, electrical safety, heat trace, small power equipment, electric motor systems, and instrumentation and control hardware
  • Strong working knowledge of process instrumentation, fire and gas systems, metering, safety instrumented systems, and hazardous area classifications
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, electrical codes, industry practices, and safety management systems
  • Experienced in project engineering, failure analysis, and reliability methodology with the ability to lead or influence multi-discipline teams
  • Ability to travel offshore Newfoundland for asset support, commissioning, and technical problem resolution

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and optimize asset reliability strategies and maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation systems in accordance with regulatory and corporate standards
  • Provide technical support on electrical and instrumentation issues, including design reviews, equipment specification, power distribution, and protection coordination
  • Lead resolution of technical queries, support process safety studies (PHA, HAZOP), and manage change documentation for electrical and instrumentation scope
  • Ensure accuracy and currency of discipline documentation, data standards, and material master records for electrical and instrumentation components
  • Contribute technical input to project engineering deliverables — supporting design integrity, safety critical elements, and compliance with performance standards
  • Provide mentorship to engineering and maintenance personnel, offering guidance on troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and reliability engineering principles
  • Coordinate with contractors and operations to verify work quality, contract compliance, and support continuous improvement in reliability performance

Location and other key details:

  • Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position
  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our St. John’s office, located at 130 Kelsey Drive
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Travel to our offshore assets when required
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
