Role Description The Mechanical Team Lead | Chef d'Équipe Mécanique is a full-time, hybrid role based in Montreal, QC, with the flexibility to perform tasks from home. This role is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering team, planning and coordinating maintenance, inspection, and design activities for the design of a robotic AI driven exoskeleton meant to help muslims with physical impairments prostrate in prayer. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing CAD models and mechanical assemblies, setting priorities and timelines, reviewing technical documentation, and ensuring that mechanical systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards. The Mechanical Team Lead collaborates with cross-functional teams, mentors junior specialists, and participates in design reviews and problem-solving sessions. The role also involves monitoring project progress, optimizing processes, and communicating technical updates. This role is a community led project for whom participants should not expect a salary.
Qualifications Strong Mechanical Engineering skills, with experience in mechanical design, analysis, and system integration. Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for modeling, drafting, and revising mechanical components and assemblies. Previous experience leading engineering teams or projects, including task delegation, mentoring, and coordination. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, with strong organizational skills and self-directed work habits. Excellent communication skills, ability to document and present technical information clearly to multidisciplinary teams. Student with a minimum of 2 years completed in a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering Comfort working in a collaborative, creativity-driven setting with a focus on learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
