Position Description:

The Manager, Campus Retail & Resource Services is responsible for the effective operation, financial performance, and service excellence of the institutions retail and learning resource operations, including Campus Stores, Learning Resource Management (materials, uniforms, tools, etc.), and Student Locker Services. This position ensures that these services deliver value to students, faculty, and the broader community through efficient operations, innovative solutions, and affordable, student-centered pricing models. The role also contributes to strategic business development initiatives that enhance institutional revenue and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

-Commercial Operations

  • Oversee operations of all Campus Stores, e-commerce, and locker services to ensure operational efficiency, financial accountability, and service excellence.
  • Develop annual operating plans and budgets aligned with institutional priorities and values.
  • Manage inventory, merchandising, pricing, and sales performance across retail channels.
  • Lead seasonal retail initiatives including back-to-school, holiday, and convocation merchandise programs.
  • Ensure the locker rental program operates efficiently and remains affordable for students.
  • Advance e-commerce and digital retail strategies to expand access and generate new revenue streams.
  • Develop collaborations with internal stakeholders such as the Student Association, Alumni, and Academic Departments to increase visibility and sales. -Learning Resource Management (materials, uniforms, tools, etc.)
  • Collaborate with academic staff and faculty to identify, source, and deliver required and recommended learning materials.
  • Develop and manage a centralized course adoption process, ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory timelines. -Leadership and Business Development
  • Provide leadership and training to staff across all areas of responsibility, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with institutional financial and operational goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Three-year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institute in Business, Commerce, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience leading full-time, part-time, and casual staff in a unionized environment is required.
  • Experience operating a multi-location retail portfolio, preferably in an academic setting, is required.
  • Experience with retail merchandising strategies, financial analysis, customer service delivery, and strategic sourcing is an asset.
  • Experience developing and delivering retail and sales training to staff.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and P&L accountability.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Broad leadership skills managing a diverse team of experienced individuals.
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the Polytechnic’s priorities on diversity and equity.
  • Able to travel between campuses.

Please note that the role requires 4 days on-site, and 1 day remote.
