Job Summary
EQUANS Services Inc. operates a Remote Operations Center (ROC) located at its head office in downtown Montreal. This center ensures the remote monitoring and operation of technical installations for clients located across North America. These clients include hospitals, district energy networks, power generation plants, commercial buildings, laboratories, university campuses, and more.
These clients entrust Equans with the management and operation of their electromechanical infrastructure, and the ROC supports these contracts both technically and operationally. Through remote connectivity and a technological platform, ROC operators ensure the proper functioning of installations during their shifts. This role is crucial to maintaining equipment performance for clients, as well as ensuring the health and comfort of occupants. It also plays a key role in energy efficiency.
Autonomy and customer service are very important qualities for this position.
The schedule follows a continental model (seven (7) 12-hour shifts over a two (2) week period), rotating between day and night shifts.
Responsibilities
Description
Maintain continuous connection to Building Management Systems (BMS) for all contracted clients; Monitor equipment and district energy networks; Track automated alarms from various platforms and respond to each one; Take action within the BMS to prevent potential failures; Understand each contract between clients and Equans to ensure maximum compliance; Receive and manage customer calls; Operate equipment remotely to maximize lifespan and optimize energy efficiency; Produce event reports highlighting key occurrences during the shift; Work with local teams to resolve urgent situations; Manage emergencies; Act as the main point of contact with all stakeholders during the shift; Make recommendations to the immediate supervisor regarding system operation improvements and quality; Diagnose operating issues with equipment under their responsibility; Draft standard operating procedures (SOPs); Conduct root cause analyses of failures; Perform technical-administrative tasks as required; Carry out any other related duties required by the role or assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Must be authorized to work in Canada; Ability to pass all background checks and security screenings; Vocational diploma (DEP), college diploma (DEC), and/or training in a related field; Preferred profiles: Stationary Engineer Certificate issued by Emploi Québec; Building mechanics technician and/or instrumentation and control technician; Mechanical engineer specialized in building systems; Five (5) years of experience as an operator of building mechanical equipment; Autonomy; ability to work independently and as part of a team; Energy, team spirit, and leadership; Good judgment and attention to quality workmanship; Customer service mindset and professionalism; ability to maintain relationships with suppliers and clients; Strong technical skills in building mechanics; Ability to learn new technological platforms and integrated systems; Serving both Canada and the United States, we must ensure that our services are delivered in the appropriate language, guaranteeing smooth communication tailored to their needs. Level of spoken and written French: Proficient Level of spoken and written English: Proficient Frequency of English use: Regular
