Role/Location Specific

  • Keyera’s Northern Allowance is a tiered incentive program based on years of service, currently offered to employees working at the following locations: Grande Prairie Office, Wapiti, Simonette, Gold Creek, South Cheecham, and Fox Creek Terminal. THE POSITION

As a valuable member of the Keyera Human Resources group, the Payroll Specialist will be a key part of the team responsible for processing and paying a semi-monthly, multi-jurisdictional, multi-union payroll for 1300+ (and growing) salaried and hourly employees - accurately and on time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Continually maintaining and using your superior knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance and reporting requirements and ensuring that proper procedures are followed.
  • Processing semi-monthly payroll for both Canada and the US.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely payroll system changes, such as rates, garnishments, new hire audits, promotion/transfer audits, terminations, etc.
  • Responding to enquiries from regulatory bodies such as CRA and Service Canada.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to learn about, and improve, Payroll and Payroll adjacent processes.
  • Consistently responding to employee and HR inquiries in a timely and helpful manner.
  • Actioning annual processes including but not limited to salary/rate increases, STIP, LTIP and year end.
  • Helping to mentor any junior members of the team.
  • Other payroll related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years post Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation.
  • 8+ years of direct payroll experience, with increasingly higher responsibility.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and regulations.
  • Experience with the Workday Canadian Payroll module.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Previous experience with US payroll and legislation is an asset.
  • Previous experience with unions is an asset.
