Come work as a Family Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
In alignment with the standards of practice and the vision and values of Vancouver Coastal Health, the family physician accepting this position will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and evidence-based outpatient treatment for adults (18+) presenting with eating disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. This role supports the Richmond Community of Care and contributes to VCH’s commitment to client- and family-centered care within a recovery-oriented model.
Clinical Scope: The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team to deliver outpatient services for individuals with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and related eating disorders. Care will be tailored to each patient’s needs, integrating psychopharmacology and psychotherapy approaches.
Team Collaboration: The psychiatrist will work closely with physicians, psychologists, nurses, clinical counselors, social workers, occupational therapists, and families to ensure coordinated care.
Responsibilities include: Conducting psychiatric assessments and consultations.
Medication management and review.
Referrals to group and time-limited individual psychotherapy. Serving as a resource for mental health and addiction issues. Participating in education and training for allied health professionals.
Academic and Community Engagement:Active involvement in academic activities and clinical teaching is expected. Familiarity with community resources and collaboration with local supports is essential.
Richmond is located 10 kilometres from downtown Vancouver, and with Vancouver International Airport and Tswwassen Ferry Terminal nearby, there is ready access to all the recreational and cultural activities in the region and province. - Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Mandatory
