Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Heavy Equipment Mechanic role located in Winnipeg, MB. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy trucks, trailers, and related equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and scheduled equipment maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and completing necessary repairs or component replacements. The role also involves conducting safety inspections, documenting work performed, maintaining accurate service records, and collaborating with operations staff to minimize equipment downtime. The mechanic is expected to follow company safety standards, use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the fleet and warehouse operations.

Qualifications

Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance, with the ability to perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance. Proficiency in Equipment Repair and working with Heavy Equipment, including trucks, trailers, and related mechanical systems. Capability in Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and systematic problem-solving. Relevant technical training or certification in heavy-duty mechanics, automotive service, or a related trade; apprenticeship or journeyperson status is an asset. Knowledge of safety regulations, workplace safety practices, and compliance requirements for commercial vehicles and equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and maintenance documentation. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with dispatch, drivers, and warehouse staff. Physical ability to lift, move, and work with heavy components and to perform tasks in a shop and yard environment. Experience in freight, transportation, or logistics settings is an advantage.
