Reporting directly to the Response Supervisor, the Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar equipment in the shop and field environments. The successful candidate will be on a Monday to Friday schedule and will operate a service truck out of our General Line – Lethbridge facility.

Job Description:

  • Trouble shooting equipment and perform equipment repairs
  • Interface with customers, products and sales support
  • Working with the supervisor on various tasks
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
  • Various related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Heavy Equipment Technician – Journeyman Certification

  • Minimum 5 years as a qualified Red Seal HET

  • Previous Dealership (CAT or Non-CAT) field mechanic experience - 2 years or more required.

  • Strong diagnostic skills and mechanical aptitude

  • Self-motivated and safety-focused with experience working independently in field conditions

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on construction equipment

  • Experience with customer facing roles/responsibility required.

  • Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools

  • Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces

  • Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices

  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
