We are actively seeking applicants for our Engineering Internship Program. Our interns will work alongside out multi-disciplined team on real projects.

As a Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Co‑op Student, you will act as a key support contact for improving the quality and reliability of CPI’s power amplifiers and medical generator products. You will work hands‑on and alongside a cross‑functional team—including Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Procurement—to help ensure our products meet strict performance and quality standards.
In this role, you'll contribute to improving manufacturing processes, developing solutions to reduce defects, and supporting initiatives that make our production systems more robust and repeatable. You’ll gain exposure to real engineering challenges while learning how product quality, design, and manufacturing interact throughout the full product lifecycle.
Success in this position involves being curious, proactive, and willing to learn. You will balance technical problem‑solving with planning and communication, all while developing your skills and supporting CPI’s business goals. This role is designed to help you grow professionally while making meaningful contributions to our team.

Position Description:

  • Cross functional support of operations engineering teams, including the product support and test and automation teams.
  • Ability to gather, sort, plan and communicate out on the various projects and tasks that you will encounter on a daily basis.
  • Leverage your understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances to develop and troubleshoot.
  • Support the SW and project development of a manufacturing execution system – paper to electronic system that’s home grown by CPI.
  • Assist engineers and technicians by gathering information, preparing documentation, and coordinating small tasks across Operations, Design Engineering, and Production.
  • Participate in team scrums and meetings and communicate progress clearly to your supervisor and peers.
  • Develop understanding of the manufacturing and design of CPI’s amplifier products and processes to identify and implement improvements.
  • Learn CPI’s manufacturing workflows and system‑level design principles through training and hands‑on observation.
  • Help update process documentation, work instructions, or test processes as needed.

Supporting Design‑to‑Production Activities

  • Contribute to the preparation of test instructions, process updates, or simple tooling requirements based on engineering guidance, ensuring documentation and factory improvements are accurate and implemented fully.
  • Assist with large and small portions of test software or equipment specification work as part of a larger engineering effort.
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of manufacturing test procedures, including Acceptance Tests and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS).
  • Collect data, organize test results summarizing and analyzing for trends and proactive risk mitigation for the factory.
Project Participation
  • Contribute to NPI and sustaining engineering initiatives by supporting research, data collection, and basic analysis.
  • Take ownership of well‑defined tasks within larger engineering projects and seek more understanding as you required.
  • Support the conversion and modernization of legacy Visual Basic applications into C# applications, ensuring improved performance, maintainability, scalability, and long-term supportability.
  • Develop and manage structured data storage solutions, including designing SQL-based databases and data structures to capture, organize, and maintain engineering test data.
Troubleshooting Support
  • Assist engineers during troubleshooting activities by performing basic checks, gathering data, and documenting findings.
  • Observe and apply methods learned to assist in diagnosing system‑level mechanical, electro‑mechanical, RF and high voltage issues.
Continuous Improvement & Data Analysis
  • Help review production data, identify simple trends, and prepare summaries for engineering review.
  • Support the implementation of minor corrective actions or process improvements.

Position Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a, Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems, Computer Science or related Engineering program - 3rd/4th year

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings or specifications.

  • Interest in RF, electro‑mechanical, or electrical systems.

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts.

  • Good understanding of how hardware and software interact at a system level.

  • Familiarity with lab or test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQ systems).

  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or C# from school or personal projects.

  • Knowledge and application in with C# and .NET framework development is an asset.

  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities

  • Willingness to ask questions and learn new technical and procedural concepts

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to manage time and organize tasks

  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment

  • Must meet all CGP requirements.
