About the Job

Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to make a real impact? We’re seeking a dynamic Sales Director to lead our growing Environmental Products Division, specializing in soil, mulch, and agricultural solutions that support a cleaner, greener planet.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Resource Recovery for Walker Environmental you will lead and drive sales excellence across retail, commercial, and industrial sectors. You’ll oversee a team of 7-10 sales professionals, including technical sales representatives, and will be responsible for the strategic growth of our customer base of over 600 clients and will be responsible for managing the current list of retailers, and growing the client list to achieve sales and profitability targets on a blend of existing brand and new brand sales.

What You’ll Be Doing

Team Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of sales professionals, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance their sales skills and improve performance.

Sales Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for retail, commercial, and industrial sales.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and adjust strategies to achieve revenue and margin targets.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key customers, prioritizing the top 10 customers based on strategic importance.
  • Oversee resolution of product warranty issues in collaboration with customers to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • You will be required to travel, to customer sites to advise and provide consultation. Overnight travel will be required to cover a large territory.

Pricing and Revenue Management:

  • Manage annual pricing strategy to optimize revenue and profitability within the marketplace.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor strategies to inform pricing and product offerings.

Sales Performance Management:

  • Establish performance targets for the sales team, track progress, and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align sales goals with overall company objectives.

Here’s What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Agriculture, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in sales, with a proven track record in the retail, commercial, and industrial sectors.
  • Strong leadership skills with a successful history of managing sales teams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep understanding of agricultural products and market dynamics is a plus .
  • Demonstrated computer skills to produce reports, documents, proposals and presentations as required (ie. MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Wal-Mart Retail Link).
