JOB POSTING: DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

The Okanagan Similkameen School District invites applications for the position of Director of Student Support Services. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Director of Student Support Servicesis a key member of the district’s Leadership Team. This position provides district-wide leadership to advance equity, inclusion, and student support services. The Director will champion inclusive practices, oversee student services programming, and collaborate with school leaders and staff to ensure students with diverse abilities and needs thrive in safe, welcoming environments.

Region

Our district serves approx. 2,400 students from early learning through Grade 12 across the communities of Osoyoos, Oliver, Keremeos, Cawston, Hedley, Olalla, and Okanagan Falls, as well as the Osoyoos, Lower Similkameen, and Upper Similkameen Indian Bands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of inclusive education programs and services.
  • Support school-based teams in meeting the learning, behavioural, and social–emotional needs of all students.
  • Oversee district student services, including learning support, counselling, mental health initiatives, and the ICY (Integrated Child & Youth) team.
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education and Child Care legislation, policy, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead staff development in inclusive practices and foster collaborative partnerships with families and community agencies.
  • Manage budgets and resources related to inclusive education and student services.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Truth and Reconciliation, and approach all communication with students, staff, and families through a lens of cultural awareness and sensitivity.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a student-focused leader who:

  • Holds a Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Has a minimum of five years teaching experience, in addition to successful school-based administration and/or district leadership experience.
  • Holds or is eligible for BC Teacher Certification.
  • Has extensive experience in inclusive education, special education, or student services.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of current research and best practices in supporting diverse learners.
  • Is an excellent communicator and collaborator with proven leadership skills.
  • Is a positive role model with a visionary approach in support of the District’s Strategic Plan.

Compensation: - $166,599 to $183,075
