About the Opportunity
White Rock Iron is looking for a full-time Ironworker Foreman based out of Delta, BC , working on active construction sites across the Lower Mainland.
Reporting to the Operations Manager , you will play a pivotal role in leading small field crews while remaining hands-on, ensuring structural steel installations are completed safely, accurately, and in coordination with general contractors and site partners.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for supervising on-site ironwork activities, executing structural steel installation and welding tasks, and representing the company on job sites through clear communication, quality workmanship, and adherence to safety standards.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading and directing crews of 2 to 6 ironworkers on active construction sites
- Performing layout, bolting, and all-position structural welding using SMAW and FCAW methods
- Interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide installation activities
- Coordinating rigging and hoisting operations and signaling crane operators during steel placement
- Installing structural and ornamental steel components, including beams, columns, canopies, stairways, and railings
- Inspecting installed work to ensure structural integrity, alignment, and compliance with project requirements
- Troubleshooting on-site challenges and adjusting methods to maintain productivity and quality
- Maintaining a strong safety presence while working at heights and around heavy equipment
About You
To qualify, you will need a Red Seal Ironworker certification , ideally with a structural and welding focus , and 5+ years of experience working as an ironworker in a structural steel construction environment .
The following are required:
- Ability to undergo a criminal record check due to work on secure sites
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clear driver’s abstract
- Willingness and ability to travel to job sites across the Lower Mainland , reporting out of Delta, BC
- Physical ability to perform demanding work , including lifting heavy materials and working at heights in varying conditions
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Hands-on experience leading or supervising small field crews on active construction sites
- Strong proficiency in all-position SMAW and FCAW structural welding
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layout plans
- Experience with rigging, hoisting, and coordinating crane operations
- Background installing structural and ornamental steel, including beams, columns, canopies, stairways, and railings
- Solid understanding of site safety requirements and working around heavy equipment
- Comfort troubleshooting on-site challenges and adjusting work methods as needed
