Role Description The Buyer role at SoftMoc is a full-time, on-site position based in Whitby, ON. The Buyer is responsible for selecting and purchasing footwear and related products that align with brand strategy, customer demand, and seasonal trends. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing sales data and market trends, managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing and terms, and ensuring optimal inventory levels across stores and e-commerce channels. The Buyer collaborates with merchandising, store operations, and marketing teams to plan assortments, support promotions, and maintain a compelling product mix. The role also involves monitoring product performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and contributing to overall business growth and profitability.

Qualifications

Experience in retail footwear buying, merchandising, or inventory management, in footwear fashion. Strong analytical and numerical skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets and sales reporting tools to interpret data and forecast demand. Effective negotiation and vendor management abilities, with experience building collaborative supplier relationships. Solid understanding of retail operations, pricing strategies, and margin management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of e-commerce and omnichannel retail practices is an asset. Post-secondary education in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated initiative, curiosity about market trends, and a customer-focused mindset.
