has the following anticipated vacancies
for the Winter 2026 semester
DISCIPLINE: PARAMEDIC CARE (181.AO)
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Part-time contract representing full and/or part-time workload.
QUALIFICATIONS:
PARAMEDIC CARE (181.AO)
- Diploma (DEC), AEC, or equivalent* degree or diploma in the Paramedic or Pre-Hospital Emergency Care field
- Active paramedic license
- Minimum of five years full-time equivalent providing patient care
- Bilingual – English and French
- Ability to collaborate within a departmental team to achieve common objectives
Preference may be given to candidates who also possess the following:
- Teaching experience
- Knowledge of Quebec protocols
- Additional College or University diploma(s) or degree(s)
- Advanced or critical care paramedic certification
- Experience in providing patient care in the last ten years
- Bilingualism (English/French) and ability to teach in French are preferred, as in the context of Bill 96 and the changes to the Charte de la langue française, if there is a need, the candidate must be willing and able to teach in French.
NOTE: It is expected that the chosen candidate will, before the end of the semester they are hired for, be required to obtain a Basic Life Support Instructor certification (through the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Red Cross, St-John's Ambulance, or equivalent*). In addition, the department recommends that the chosen candidate continuously improve their knowledge of Quebec paramedic protocols both during their first semester of work and on an ongoing basis.
In addition to above, specific qualifications/experience required to be the lead teacher of Emergency Vehicle Driving 181-601-AB or Emergency Vehicle Operation 181-612-AB:

Authorized to issue the 4A (Emergency Vehicle) certificate to candidates, where required

Experience in a Traffic Safety Department for ambulances would be an asset

Ambulance investigation experience would be an asset

A minimum of five years ambulance field experience

A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in the Paramedic Care/Pre-Hospital Emergency Care field

Equivalent establishes a general comparison between two official education systems
