Successful applicants are required to perform general labour work such as shoveling, lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces

Pay Rate $33.85/hr as per the Basic Agreement, agreed to by the Company and Local 1005

Job Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in Post-Secondary School and/or entering in Fall 2026
Eligibility
- Provide proof of full-time attendance and tuition registration/receipt in the school year commencing September 2026. Current College or University students must provide proof of attendance of a full year program. The following documentation will be accepted: A letter verifying attendance from the registrar's office (for example, verification of enrollment letter)
- Be listed as dependents of an active full time (permanent) employee of any Stelco Inc. facility and appear as the same.
- Be 18 years of age as of May 4, 2026.
- Be available to commence employment by May 4, 2026.
- Be prepared to work up to and including Labour Day, September 7, 2026, unless classes begin earlier.
- Pass a pre-employment medical.
Responsibilities
- Labour support including sweeping, shoveling various materials (coal, coke dust, debris, etc.), scraping and removal of hardened materials on various surfaces using power and hand tools, applying sealant materials, opening and closing valves and caps for oven fill ups and dumps, heavy paper wrapping of steel coils, applying banding materials and other miscellaneous labour duties including but not limited to painting, janitorial, etc.
- Working within a heavy industrial environment and you may be required to work within various areas of the plant
- Depending on the area of work, the environmental conditions may be hot, dirty, dusty, greasy, wet and/ or noisy
- Safety is our highest priority, and safety procedures and guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes wearing mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hat, eye and hearing protection, respirators, flame retardant clothing and safety boots with metatarsal protection, at all times during your work shift
