Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: Yes
Rate of Pay (effective April 1, 2026):
Year 1 - $30.23 per hour
Year 2 - $30.23 per hour
Year 3 - $38.87 per hour
Year 4 - $38.87 per hour

**Characteristic Duties:**Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor:
- Inspect, repair, test, and maintain all automotive, mechanical, and construction equipment in the Community Services Department.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the Helper.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of City of Greater Sudbury’s (CGS's) Safety Manual and the applicable provincial legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalency (as accepted by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).
- Knowledge and/or experience in automotive and/or truck and coach and/or heavy equipment mechanics (e.g., courses in high school).
- Must be willing to register as an Apprentice into the applicable Apprenticeship Program with the MTCU.
- Preference will be given to applicants with recognized Apprenticeship hours.
- Preference will be given to applicants with own tool kit valued at $500 - $1,000.
- Must be able to acquire a Class “DZ” driver’s licence.
- Second year apprentices will be given primary consideration. If we are unable to fill the vacancy with a second year apprentice, first year apprentices will be considered.
