Job Summary
Reporting to the Warehouse Floor Supervisor, the Production Line Lead is a front-line leadership position responsible for overseeing day-to-day production activities within our distribution and logistics facility. The Production Line Lead directs production associates, coordinates workflow across the production line, ensures quality and throughput targets are met, and maintains a safe and efficient work environment at all times.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of production associates across assigned shifts and production lines.
- Assign tasks and workload distribution based on daily production schedules and operational priorities.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings to communicate production targets, quality standards, safety topics, and updates.
- Monitor individual and team performance, providing real-time feedback, coaching, and corrective guidance.
- Support onboarding, orientation, and skills training for new and existing production employees.
- Document attendance, performance issues, and disciplinary actions in coordination with the Supervisor.
Production Operations & Line Management
- Oversee all production line activities including sorting, packaging, labelling, processing, and assembly operations as applicable.
- Monitor production flow to identify bottlenecks, minimize downtime, and maximize throughput.
- Coordinate line changeovers, equipment setups, and adjustments to meet changing production requirements.
- Ensure production targets, cycle times, and output quotas are consistently achieved.
- Verify that all products and shipments meet quality standards and specifications before release.
- Liaise with the warehouse, shipping/receiving, and logistics teams to ensure seamless material flow.
- Monitor supply of materials, components, and packaging to prevent production stoppages.
Quality Control & Continuous Improvement
- Enforce quality control procedures at every stage of the production process.
- Identify and escalate quality defects, non-conformances, and process deviations promptly.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning for recurring production issues.
- Support and lead Lean, Kaizen, and 5S continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.
- Track and report on key production metrics including throughput, error rates, and downtime.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
- Conduct daily safety inspections of production line equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Investigate and report all workplace incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure compliance with WHMIS, applicable Quebec OHS legislation, and all company safety standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) activities as required.
Communication & Reporting
- Prepare and submit shift production reports including output volumes, downtime events, quality issues, and attendance.
- Communicate delays, capacity constraints, and operational issues to the Production Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality assurance, and logistics departments to resolve production disruptions.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
Skills Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or DEP (Diplôme d’études professionnelles) required.
- Additional training or certification in production management, Lean manufacturing, or supply chain is a strong asset.
Work Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a lead, team leader, or supervisory role on a production line.
- Demonstrated experience managing production output, quality control, and team performance.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies is a strong asset.
- Experience using production management software, ERP systems, or WMS platforms is an asset.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of production line operations, quality control standards, and throughput optimization.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications including Microsoft Office and production tracking systems.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations including WHMIS and Quebec OHS legislation.
- Forklift or other material handling equipment certification is an asset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in a production environment.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
