Position Summary
The Senior Facility Manager provides strategic leadership and executive oversight for all clubhouse and facility operations of the 180,000 sq. ft. property. This role is accountable for capital planning, budgeting, risk management, and long-term infrastructure sustainability. The Senior Facility Manager ensures that all facility operations align with the Club’s strategic objectives, enhance member experiences, and meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Oversight
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for all facility operations, systems, and infrastructure while remaining actively engaged in troubleshooting, inspections, and complex maintenance tasks as needed.
- Direct and support the Facility Manager and Maintenance Assistant in the execution of day-to-day maintenance activities, stepping in personally when higher-level technical expertise or urgent response is required.
- Oversee and actively participate in capital projects, long-term facility improvement plans, and sustainability initiatives.
- Lead risk management, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance across facilities, including on-site presence during critical situations.
- Review and approve contractor selection, service agreements, and vendor partnerships, and directly supervise on-site contractor work when required.
- Drive innovation in operations through technology adoption and process improvements, while modeling hands-on technical competence to support the team.
Financial Management
- Develop, monitor, and manage operating and capital budgets for facility operations.
- Oversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor contracts, ensuring cost efficiency and fiscal accountability.
- Maintain accurate reporting and documentation to support audits, inspections, and Board updates.
- Present regular updates to the Green Committee and Board of Directors on facility projects, budgets, and priorities.
- Present regular updates to senior management or board on facility projects, budgets, and priorities.
Leadership & Collaboration

Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to the Facility Manager and maintenance staff.

Actively demonstrate credibility by remaining involved in practical aspects of facilities work.

Collaborate with department heads to align facility resources with events, member services, and club priorities.

Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence in all facility operations.
Requirements

8+ years of progressive experience in facilities management, with leadership responsibility-preferably in a Golf Course environment
-
Post Secondary education in facilities management, engineering, or a related field; trade certification considered an asset.

College or Trade School Diploma/certificate

People management experience
-
Certification in HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing preferred

Experience designing, implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program
-
Project management experience (managing scope, time, cost, quality, contracts, materials and risks)
-
Post Secondary education in facilities management, engineering, or a related field; trade certification considered an asset.

Demonstrated success managing large-scale capital projects and operating budgets.
-
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems.

Expertise in regulatory compliance, building codes, and workplace safety.
-
Periodic lifting, pulling, and pushing of equipment and materials up to 50 lbs independently; heavier work may be assisted by staff or contractors.

Involves climbing, bending, crouching, and working in awkward positions when troubleshooting or assisting with complex repairs.
-
Requires manual dexterity and coordination to use tools and equipment safely when engaging in hands-on work.

Requires constant attention to detail in managing multiple concurrent priorities, including capital projects, compliance, preventive maintenance, and emergency responses.

Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams.

Exceptional financial acumen, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.

Strong relationship-building, communication, and collaboration abilities.

Valid driver’s license required.

This position carries 24/7 on-call responsibility to address urgent facility issues, emergencies, or critical system failures.

Overtime and weekend hours may be required during peak periods, capital projects, or emergency responses.

While day-to-day coverage may be delegated to the Facility Manager, the Senior Facility Manager is ultimately accountable for ensuring timely response and resolution.
