The ATOM team is shaping the future of game testing at EA. As a Machine Learning Engineering Manager reporting to the Director of AI, you will lead a high-performing team of engineers. In cooperation with ATOM's Lead Scientist, you'll oversee the planning and delivery of AI-driven capabilities that enhance the quality and efficiency of game development, aligning projects, timelines, and outcomes with EA's goals. Your leadership will allow us to deliver reliable, scalable AI capabilities that enhance how every EA title is tested and experienced.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Grow the Team: Build and support an ML engineering team through mentorship, performance management, and encouraging a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and excellence.
  • Deliver Impactful AI Capabilities: Oversee the development and deployment of machine learning capabilities that enhance testing automation and game quality, ensuring projects align with ATOM and EA's broader goals.
  • Alignment and Execution: Manage project scope, priorities, and timelines; bridge long-term technology and product roadmaps with short-term deliverables; ensure consistent progress toward OKRs.
  • Champion Engineering and ML Best Practices: Promote structured ML practices and quality engineering through documentation, metrics, and process improvements.
  • Optimize Processes and Resources: Establish efficient workflows, monitor delivery flow, and manage resource allocation, budgets, and vendor partnerships.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering work experience, including hands-on technical management
  • Experience with production machine learning systems and the full ML lifecycle
  • Experience leading technical organizations, including performance management
  • Bachelor of Science/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience leading software engineers
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams with diverse technical skill levels

This is a hybrid position working from our office in Vancouver.

Compensation And Benefits The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$138,700 - $199,900 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
