About the role:

As a Mechanical Technician you will support the assembly, modification, testing, and deployment of custom electro‑mechanical and robotic systems used in advanced clean-energy applications. This is a hands-on role involving component procurement, prototype fabrication, mechanical troubleshooting, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure high-quality, manufacturable designs. You will work across the full lifecycle of equipment, from build and test through on-site customer support.

You will report to the Robotic Tooling Design Manager and be located at Burlington, Ontario. This position will be offered as an onsite role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, oversee, and troubleshoot custom-designed robotic and electro‑mechanical systems

  • Perform manual machining operations, including minor modifications using lathes and mills

  • Manage purchasing requisitions, receiving activities, and component/tool inventory in accordance with the WEC Quality Manual

  • Interpret, mark-up, and provide feedback on mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to document assembly issues or design improvements

  • Support prototype fabrication, equipment testing, quality documentation, and deployment at customer sites, including nuclear power facilities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience assembling, maintaining, or troubleshooting electro‑mechanical systems

  • 2‑year Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma or relevant trade certification (Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, Machine Tool Builder and Integrator, or equivalent)

  • Hands-on experience with manual machining on lathes and mills

  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The annual salary for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated to be $56,500 to $70,500.
