Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering the lectures for the Winter 2026 Introduction to Aquaculture course (MARI 3602). The course offers an introductory overview of aquaculture, the culturing of aquatic plants and animals. The following topics are covered with both a Maritimes and global perspective: overview physio-chemistry of water, engineering, culture techniques, health, nutrition, genetics, environmental and socio-economic considerations.

Responsibilities include all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including lectures, test preparation, and evaluation of tests and reports, Brightspace administration, handling student issues, submitting grades, hiring/supervising TA’s, etc. In addition, The part-time academic should expect to spend considerable time before and after the official course dates preparing and marking. Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus, or out on field trips if appropriate. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

The applicants will have an advanced degree in biology in a related discipline. Previous, recent teaching experience in the subject matter would be a definite asset. First time applicants must provide the names of two referees.
