Job Purpose

The E-Coat Technician is responsible for coordinating the daily testing, maintenance, and upkeep of the E-Coat Line. The E-Coat Technician will ensure that adequate resources and materials are available for the operation of the line, and work in conjunction with the Production Manager to plan daily activities.

Job Duties

  • Monitors, maintains, tracks, and reports relevant daily statistics, including but not limited to chemical concentration, paint levels, solid levels, line speed, substrate type, and conductivity.
  • Conducts spot checks and monitors output quality during part changeover, including first-off visual inspection, crosshatch testing, and film thickness testing.
  • Analyzes data to root cause quality concerns, continuously improve suitable levels for production, and always ensure a quality part.
  • Adjusts E-Coat/Powder line speed based on substrate to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Reports any mechanical, pneumatic, or electrical line issues to maintenance team accordingly.
  • Collaborates with Production Supervisor and Process Engineer to address operator and/or process-based non-conformances contributing to fallout.
  • Assist in the implementation of standard operating procedures for production operations.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to and required daily data is recorded in daily logbook.
  • Follows all Select Finishing health and safety policies and procedures and manufacturer instructions, including using appropriate PPE for tasks assigned.
  • Monitor quality standards of products throughout the process.
  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives.
  • Determine and implement improvements to the production process.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments.
  • Interpret and implement quality assurance standard.
  • Plan, conduct and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished quality product.
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and non-conformance issues.
  • Assist in the evaluation of options and generation of solutions for quality issues.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness and order of workstation.
  • Report all health and safety concerns or incidents to the Production Supervisor

Qualifications

  • 1-3 Years Relevant Work Experience is required
  • Completion of Post-Secondary Education within a relevant field is required
  • Previous Experience in Chemical Analysis is considered an asset.
