About the role

Permanent Full Time

Reporting to AVP Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), the Manager Enterprise Risk Management plays an important role in advancing risk capabilities and engaging global stakeholders. Manager ERM will support the AVP ERM to maintain and continuously enhance risk capability assessments and embed Lifeco’s system of risk management. Manager ERM will maximize efficiencies in risk programs and enable risk function strategy.

As a risk professional engaging risk teams across our various geographies, the Manager ERM will be a trusted advisor, providing advice and analysis to support management of enterprise risks.

What you will do:

Maintain and continuously enhance risk capability assessments:

  • Lead and execute the annual Global Risk Function self-assessment processes
  • Develop the next generation of self-assessment capabilities that are streamlined and efficient, leveraging automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Enable Risk Function Strategy:

  • Support the development of senior leadership agendas and calendars for key meetings
  • Support regulatory submissions and other prominent communications

Enhance and embed Lifeco's System of Risk and Control and Drive Effective Risk Management:

  • Support AVP ERM with special projects as they arise
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and digitization to work more efficiently
  • Develop / support development of metrics, measurement techniques, reporting and other risk processes

Leadership:

  • Influence staff to achieve outcomes in a highly consultative and partnering manner
  • Encourage new ideas and innovative approaches and actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of the team
  • Create order and structure around unstructured problems
  • Be receptive to ongoing feedback via senior leadership, internal business partners and peers
  • Lead by example, setting a positive tone and cultivating a constructive learning culture

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive senior risk experience, or similar oversight roles
  • Experience developing financial and nonfinancial risk management concepts and methodologies, frameworks, policies and related processes
  • Track record of successfully developing and executing risk processes or methodologies in partnership with teams in various geographies
  • Excellent business acumen and analytical skills, including financial and business analysis, and research with demonstrated aptitude for strategic, conceptual and critical thinking
  • Strong relationship building and communications skills (verbal and written) across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain focus and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced and at times ambiguous and pressurized environment
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, and design solutions from high level strategic vision with limited direction and oversight
  • Creative thinking, open mindset, and ability to challenge status quo

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg.

The base salary for this position is between $76,400 - $141,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
