Position Title
Assistant Resident Maintenance Technician (Summer)
Position Summary
The Assistant Resident Maintenance Technician (Summer) is responsible for assisting the Residence Maintenance Technician in maintaining the Residences in a proper state of repair.
This involves assisting the Resident Maintenance Technician to complete maintenance work orders on an on demand basis as well as assisting the Resident Maintenance Technician to complete preventative maintenance.
Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, assisting the Resident Maintenance Technicianin:

Making repairs to any area of the Residences as detailed in Work Orders completed by members of the Residence staff
-
Plumbing issues that could include repairs to toilets, pipes, valves, sinks, the sewage lift station and faucets
-
Carpentry tasks that could include dry walling, replacing or repairing doors, repairing furniture and cabinets and painting
-
Appliance repair that could include replacing handles and knobs
-
Issues involving locks and keys that could include lock changes, cutting keys and repairing locks.

Electrical repairs that can include replacing light fixtures, replacing plugs and minor wiring projects.

Preventative maintenance projects that may include changing furnace filters, arranging to have sewer lines cleaned, having the sewage lift station checked annually and arranging for furnace ducts to be cleaned

Supports regular unit checks/inspections of unoccupied units for maintenance and safety

Moving furniture and appliances into units, between units and from units
-
Helps as necessary with setup of Residence events and activities
Required Qualifications

Valid class 5 Driver’s Licence

Quick learning of on-the-job skills

Ability to take instruction well

Must be able to perform the duties of the job

Punctual and reliable
-
Ability to work well independently and is self motivated

Flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent to about 12 years of schooling
-
Experience with household maintenance would be an asset

$21.19 per hour
Benefits and Compensation Information
An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
