Our client is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Manager for their Pickering, ON office. This posting is for an existing vacancy for which they are actively recruiting. Responsibilities
Technical supervision of design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems Oversee planning, execution and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are on time and within scope Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize tasks Monitor Progress, identify risks and implement strategies Lead, mentor, and coach a team of engineers, fostering professional growth and career development Set clear goals and expectations, conducting regular performance reviews and feedback sessions Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high performing team culture Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements Drive continuous improvement within the engineering team Define and refine engineering processes to improve efficiency and quality Uses initiative and judgement in resolving problems, interprets engineering specifications, obtaining and analyzing data and design Work closely with business leaders to align engineering initiatives with organizational objectives Solve problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
Qualifications
Completion of a four-year University Degree in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years of related working experience in a design consulting environment is considered an asset, ideally with 2-3 years in a leadership role Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario Must be able to obtain a federal security clearance Ability to balance hands-on technical contributions with leader responsibilities Should be able and willing to occasionally travel to other office locations and client sites/locations as required Work experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a nuclear environment Specific knowledge in piping, and specifically alloyed piping in terms of definition, specification, calculation, sourcing, prefabrication and assembly will be considered an asset Knowledge of related disciplines, i.e. Civil/Structural, Electrical and Instrumentation/Controls is required Demonstrate ability to be flexible, adaptable and work under tight schedules in a fast-paced environment
Compensation
Our client considers various factors in determining compensation, including but not limited to education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

A requirement of working for our client is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational and security) and professional reference checks are required. Some positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
