CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA
The Technology & Analytics group provides secure, reliable, and adaptable applications and technology that support corporate operations and member services. This includes working collaboratively across the Association to leverage business applications and supporting processes to continuously deliver value, contribute to modernizing the CMPA, and to deliver enhanced member experience. This group oversees the infrastructure that supports data analysis of business information and leverages the use of analytics to enable informed and evidence-based decision making across the Association. This group leads support for the CMPA on privacy matters, which includes maintaining the privacy framework and implementing and maintaining the corporate privacy plan. In addition, this group safeguards digital assets, infrastructure, and sensitive information and is responsible for ensuring the protection of the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the CMPA’s information and technology assets. It also plays an essential role in protecting and safeguarding the CMPA’s reputation and ensuring that it continues to provide high-quality services to its members.
Position Overview Reporting to Manager, IT Planning & Governance, the Technical Program Manager, Data, Analytics & AI is responsible for overseeing and providing technical insights related to data, analytics, and AI at the CMPA ensuring they align with the CMPA’s strategic objectives of reducing medico-legal risk and advancing safe medical care in an ethical and privacy-optimized manner.
This includes leading and managing a program to assess, evaluate, and monitor data analytics and AI systems and technology projects from inception to completion. This role ensures timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals working closely with the RAP team and other CMPA departments and stakeholders to identify and communicate key technical requirements, client needs, and project risks. Liaising with decision makers, users, and subject matter experts across the organization.
The ideal candidate for this role well versed in project management principles and has an in-depth understanding and is passionate about the responsible use of AI tools. The candidate is highly organized, loves creating systems and processes that make things run better, builds strong relations with a variety of roles, functions, and levels of seniority and who thrives on providing exceptional service. This role acts as a champion for the use of AI at the CMPA.
POSITION ACTIVITIES
Technical Project/Program Management
- Learn and understand client business needs objectives, technical requirements and align multiple project goals and plans to these achieve these objectives.
- Support the development of the business cases, business objectives, technical requirements gathering and budget development at project initiation and review and refine them throughout the project’s life cycle.
- Using their understanding of the client business needs, provides recommendations on the appropriate AI tools, and whether to acquire or develop the technology in house.
- Evaluates the risks, benefits, and opportunities of AI systems.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with the RAP senior leadership team and other CMPA internal stakeholders; effectively refine and manage the scope of the project as appropriate.
- Define metrics with stakeholders to measure project performance, and provides technical support to the client to define appropriate metrics to evaluate AI model performance, throughout the AI lifecycle
- Produce and maintain appropriate project/program communications documents; regularly communicate project status to all stakeholders.
Data and AI Strategy Support
- Coordinate the vision for the strategic and ethical application of Data and AI at the CMPA, ensuring compliance with data, privacy and ethical frameworks and corporate priorities.
- Support CMPA strategic initiatives including the Data Strategy and AI Strategy.
- Provide reporting support for CMPA annual operational and strategic planning documentation and inputs into the CMPA Performance Management Framework (PMF) for data and AI related activities.
Support the organization’s data leaders, analysts and practitioners
- Work with senior leadership to as part of the Data and Analytics Oversight committee to support an understanding of the role data and analytics can play to contribute to the organization’s priorities, to the issues facing Canadian physicians and healthcare.
- Liaise with departmental leads to identify issues and topics.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, project team members, and other departments involved in the project; promote project stakeholder satisfaction by addressing issues in a timely manner.
- Pro-actively identifies opportunities that deliver benefit to the organization - either through new projects or quality improvement initiatives where existing processes can incrementally be improved. Provides recommendations to management for input on strategic decisions.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant trends, emerging topics, and best practices in data, analytics and AI. Identifies trends that may support or impede the success of the department/organization.
- Facilitating discussions that build consensus and in turn contribute to guiding the various teams towards innovative solutions.
Education And Experience
- Minimum 4-year bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. Engineering, Business Administration, etc.).
- Designation or certification in Project Management and/or Process Improvement (e.g. PMP, Six Sigma, etc.) an asset.
- Minimum 7 years of experience leading and managing technical projects in business intelligence, analytics and/or AI.
- Experience in a data and analytics department / organization, or healthcare organization an asset.
- Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects involving cross-functional groups including planning, coordination, risk mitigation, and successful project delivery.
- Experience working with senior decision makers, staff and a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience with the assessment of AI systems and models, including with the application of AI risk management frameworks
- Strong change management and facilitation skills developed on a significant project or within a large organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong ability to effectively communicate complex subjects.
- Bilingualism (English / French) an asset.

POSTING DETAILS
- Job Type: 12 month term, full-time position until approximately December 2026. Includes paid time off and health/dental benefits.
- Salary Range: $100,400-$134,300 – this role is classified as level 9.

- Location: Hybrid – Primary Remote Job. You can work from a home-based office the majority of time, with regular on-site presence at the CMPA office (up to 1-2 days per week).
