Full-time, Fixed Term Contract

Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 4 to 12 located in Canada’s capital and the traditional, unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. We are seeking a full-time, Senior School International Baccalaureate English teacher for a fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Department Head of English, you will be responsible for the delivery of an exceptional classroom experience to our students.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Teach full-time (5 classes), including IB and Ontario Curriculum English
  • Provide on-call teaching as required
  • Actively participate in Department meetings, faculty teaching and learning opportunities, and whole school activities.

As the successful candidate, you have a history of school community involvement, bringing enthusiasm and energy to the classroom, thriving in a busy learning community, working collaboratively with colleagues, and leading co-curricular activities. Your teaching practice includes current learning theories, creative use of technology, and imaginative course design and delivery.

Your education, experience and qualifications include:

  • Ontario Teacher Certification in Senior Level English, or equivalent certification 2
  • B.A or M.A in English
  • Experience teaching Ontario Curriculum English, Grades 9 – 12, and IB English, Grades 11 & 12
  • Evidence of teaching enhanced by technology.
  • A demonstrated commitment to enriching school life for students, including promoting pluralism and enhancing student belonging
  • Experience leading co-curricular activities in the areas of creativity, activity (including athletics), and service
  • Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Experience teaching International Baccalaureate English Language and Literature and/or Literature is an asset
  • International experience and/or fluency in multiple languages is an asset.

This appointment is effective starting October 27, 2025, for a period of approximately one month with the possibility of extension.
