This posting is for 2 full-time temporary positions up to 18 months
Strathcona County is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Receivables and Revenue Coordinator to play a key role in supporting the organization’s financial health and cash flow management. This position is responsible for managing accounts receivable activities, employee expense reimbursements, and corporate payment processing while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service to both internal departments and external customers. A significant component of this role involves billing and collections for healthcare-related services. This requires professionalism, empathy, and strong problem-solving skills when working with customers who may be experiencing challenging circumstances.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for accounts receivable inquiries from internal departments and external customers
- Prepare, issue, and reconcile invoices for ambulance services and other billings
- Process customer payments, prepare deposits, and generate account statements
- Conduct collection activities, maintain accurate collection logs, and follow up on outstanding accounts
- Liaise with insurance companies to support timely payment and re-billing when required
- Perform reconciliations of related balance sheet accounts
- Other related duties as required
- Monitor and respond to employee expense inquiries
- Provide guidance and training to employees on expense submission processes
- Review and verify expense claims for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance
- Prepare the weekly corporate payment run, ensuring accuracy and integrity of payments
- Provide backup support and participate in cross-training within Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and Financial and Strategic Services
- Support supervisors and management with treasury-related advice, reporting, and process improvements
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments Contribute to improving business processes and enhancing customer service delivery
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years of experience in accounts receivable or a general accounting role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook
- Experience with Oracle Cloud (accounts receivable and employee expense modules) is considered and asset
- Knowledge of municipal government operations, policies, and procedures is considered an asset
- Proficient in multitasking and adjusting priorities in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
