Job Summary As a Project Manager (PM) working in the Building Automation System (BAS) team, you will lead a team of professionals, reporting directly to the BAS Construction Manager. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering large-scale capital BAS projects across Central Ontario area with a focus on Hamilton, Niagara Falls, and the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The PM has proven leadership skills, strong client management capabilities, and a thorough understanding of the Canadian construction industry. This role requires demonstrated competency in team leadership, critical path scheduling, and complex budget management. The Project Manager will collaborate with the BAS Construction Manager and other PMs for resource scheduling and service handling requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates leadership in Health & Safety practices, schedules and reports attendance on weekly H&S talks, uses eCompliance to audit technician submissions and reports to the BAS Construction Manager/HSE.
- Responsible for maintaining Ainsworth standard practices in the delivery of BAS projects.
- Liaises with other Project Managers to improve company practices.
- Skilled in managing multiple stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and internal teams as the primary contact, ensuring proactive communication and exceptional service.
- Experienced in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships for large-scale projects
- Thorough risk management skillset with the ability to proactively identifying risks and implement strategies to minimize impact on timelines and budgets
- Maintains all required standard project documentation, both financial and technical, as a record for the company.
- Informs the BAS Construction Manager weekly of project status, team needs, risks, and challenges.
- Works with the assigned Project Analyst to deliver monthly forecasts for the project portfolio.
- Knowledge of IoT, smart building technologies, and integration with BAS systems.
- Familiarity with green building standards (LEED, WELL) and energy optimization strategies related to ASHRAE or equivalent standards
- Supervises internal and subcontracted resources to ensure TBQ (on Time, on Budget, and with Quality).
- Leads BAS construction team-building activities and provides team appraisals and evaluations.
- Experience mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Adheres to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- Graduate from post-secondary education or technical equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Ainsworth Canada and pass security screening as required by clients.
- Fluent in English – both written and oral; ability to read and understand construction plans, specs, and product documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Visio and Microsoft Project.
- Strong background in client relationship management, team leadership, critical path scheduling, and complex budget oversight.
