JOB SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator will support, develop, maintain, and implement the five-year pilot projects as outlined in the funding agreements approved by Public Safety Canada. The Project Coordinator will have an active environment that is culturally safe for all employees, youth, elders, community partners etc. to support the delivery of programs, services, education, awareness and advocacy.

This position will require regular evening/weekend work.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to Community Safety Coordinator, dotted line to the Wellness Programs Lead.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees multiple projects planning

• Coordinate with core Community Safety Programs and Youth led initiatives

• Supporting workplans, track progress, streamline people into the programs

• Develop and deliver evaluation and feedback mechanisms

• Budget management aligning funds with projects

• Builds relationships and supports program participation for youth identified as at-risk

• Develops and implements educational programs to meet the deliverables outlined in the OKIB Five-Year Comprehensive Safety Strategy

• Participates in the Community Consultative Group and supports initiatives that focus on crime prevention and intervention

• Maintains program statistics, completes written reports and complete program evaluations

• All persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties.

• Participate in community events as requested

• Perform other related duties as required

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

• Creates program plans, writes reports and makes formal presentations

• Identifies and pursues sources of funding for projects, activities and/or events

• Undertakes administrative tasks, verifying information and responding to queries

• Meets, liaises and networks with community groups/services (i.e. RCMP, school districts, social services, youth justice and other agencies to address issues and promote opportunities for

• Liaise with other OKIB staff to determine partnership opportunities

• Attends meetings

• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the OKIB policies and procedures

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
You have education, experience, or an equivalent combination may be considered. You are community-minded, detail-oriented, have a willingness to contribute to a team and an excellent communicator.

Education

• Project Coordinator Certification an asset

• Current First Aid/CPR certificate or willing to obtain

• Valid BC Driver’s licence, minimum Class 5, and reliable vehicle

Experience

• 5 years of experience working in project management

• 5 years of demonstrated experience in program planning and implementation

• Experience working with First Nations communities

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

• Criminal record check that includes the vulnerable sector

• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Competencies (KSAs & Desired Attributes)

• Possesses cultural appropriateness and sensitivity towards OKIB and Community

• Knowledge of Okanagan culture and traditions

• Ability to work as a part of an inter-disciplinary team

• Strong organizational skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Working knowledge of computer software such as: Canva, MS Word, Excel, Outlook and strong internet and social media literacy

• Problem solving skills

• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

CLASSIFICATION/PAY SCALE
$31.27 per hour
