The Department of Health and Social Services works under the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister, in partnership with the Health and Social Services Authorities, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the NWT through planning, development, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.

Job Information
Do you have a strong interest in leading electronic health and social services (eHSS) systems across the NWT to drive innovation, provide a future vision and direction in the development and delivery of technology products and services that support service delivery? Working and living in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) plays a key senior leadership and strategic role to provide enterprise leadership and direction for the development and delivery for eHSS Systems for the HSS System.
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services and Cultural Safety, you will have an opportunity to lead transformative changes in the areas of eHSS governance and planning and health information privacy and security.
The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge of informatics business and processes. Some of the key qualifications include:
- Quality assurance and risk management knowledge
- Effective and strong senior level communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent leadership skills in a cross-cultural setting with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Strong strategic planning and analytical abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with major in Management Information Systems and 8 years of informatics experience that includes:
- 4 years of Health IT or Health IS experience at a manager level, and
- 3 years managing people, and large, complex enterprise projects
- Equivalencies can include:
- Graduate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with major in Management Information Systems and 6 years of informatics experience that includes:
- 3 years of Health IT or Health IS experience at a manager level, and
- 3 years managing people, and large, complex enterprise projects
- Diploma in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with major in Management Information Systems and 10 years of informatics experience that includes:
- 4 years of Health IT or Health IS experience at a manager level, and
- 3 years managing people, and large, complex enterprise projects
- Related education field(s) for this position can include:
- Clinical Engineering
