The Opportunity As Senior Accountant, you will be working on multiple infrastructure assets across Canada and USA. You will be responsible to oversee the day-to-day accounting for various projects including but not limited to transaction accounting, posting entries, processing invoices, AP, AR, and account reconciliations. Ensuring compliance to US GAAP, IFRS, and ASPE, support and oversee accurate and timely maintenance of financial records. Working alongside staff accountant and Finance Managers you will get the opportunity to learn and grow with the firm including financial modeling and contract management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee record keeping and general ledger maintenance, including reviewing the accuracy of sales invoices, incoming payments, supplier statements.
- Monthly journal entries to the accounting system with a focus on accuracy and compliance and account reconciliations to ensure integrity of financial data.
- Month and quarter end close, preparation of respect
- Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements and lead the month end close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance to Project requirements.
- Prepare year-end audit working papers and liaison with external auditors.
- Compile tax schedules and coordinate with external tax advisors for the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns.
- Working in a cohesive team, mentor and guide junior staff.
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in a project-based environment.
- Working towards a CPA designation
- Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
- Fluent in English (and French preferably)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency with accounting software and intermediate Excel skills preferred.
