Job Information

The Manager, Mental Health and Addictions Strategic Programs (Manager) position oversees the Family Violence Consultant, Mental Wellness and Addiction Recover Specialist, Consultant Land Based Healing, Facility Based Residential Treatment Specialist, and Intern Facility Based Addictions Treatment positions.

This position not only provides leadership in the identification of program opportunities and challenges, they also carry significant financial accountability, with oversight of approximately 20-30 contracts/contribution agreements and expenditures of $15-20 million annually.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, development and implementation of quality improvement, assurance and risk management activities for Mental Health and Addiction Strategic programs.
Responsible for the financial management and oversight of Mental Health and Addiction Strategic Program resources.
Oversee and manage mental health planning projects including Mental Health and Addiction related promotion, prevention and awareness campaigns.

Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of relevant Mental Health and Addiction legislation, Standards, procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of and/or the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of government legislations, policies, standards and service contracts.
  • Interpersonal and inter-group skills to effectively lead and facilitate internal, externa, individual or multidisciplinary division team and group.
  • Skills relating to research and policy development and the ability to write clear, engaging and succinct policies, directive and briefing notes.
  • Ability to develop strong consultative relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to apply sensitivity to the geographical and cultural needs of the people and understand how community and culture impact the delivery of Health and Social Services.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A degree in a mental health-related field (e.g. Social Work, Nursing, Psychology) and five (5) years of relevant experience including one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.

Additional Requirements
This position requires the incumbent to be part of a relevant regulated profession and to be registered with / or be eligible for professional licensing registration.
