Position Summary

Reporting to the Foreman, Parks Services, and working under the direction of the Parks and Arena Operators, the Arena Attendant performs maintenance and public relations duties within all outdoor and snow bank rinks to ensure that the facilities are readily available in an attractive, clean, safe, and presentable condition for public use.

Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform janitorial and preventative maintenance duties.
  • Snow removal as required using hand and/or light powered operating equipment.
  • Open, monitor and close outdoor rinks.
  • Ensure all rules and regulations pertaining to the facilities are adhered to.
  • Maintain positive public relations and provide assistance and information services to user groups and the public.
  • Assisting Parks and Facility Operators with repair, fabrication, and maintenance duties and cleaning in order to meet customer service needs.

Qualifications

Candidates must have good organization, customer service and communication skills with a basic knowledge of cleanliness. Working knowledge and experience of the safe usage hand operated tools and snow removal equipment is essential. The ability to make practical, fair, and objective decisions pertaining to meeting customer needs, and performing facility and equipment operations and maintenance is required. This is a physically demanding position; incumbents will be required to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of adverse weather conditions. The number of hours of work per week may vary based on operational needs.

This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement.

Hours of Work: Varying shifts, working a minimum of 15 hours per week including evenings, weekends and holidays

Duration: December 1, 2025 – March 2, 2026
